A good neighbor is just like a best friend. They help when their best friend is in need. For example, if your best friend is hungry but she is short on money and she couldn't afford to buy the food, it would be nice if you buy their food for them. A good neighbor does not only cling to one person though. A good neighbor does good towards everyone. They help when someone is need and they be there when someone is in trouble. Best friends and good neighbors are very much similar. I know I am a good neighbor as well as a good friend. My weakness is being kind. However, it doesn't feel to ecstatic for someone to take advantage of that. They will call you all type of names like "their little puppet" just to put you below zero. It okay though because the people that do not use people for the wrong reasons will gain so much in life and it doesn't have to be materialistic. Why can't people just be good neighbors? Its sad when people, especially the ones that you care about, think that you are doing nice things for them just because they want something. Why can't us good neighbors, as well as good friends be categorized as kind?

What is a good neighbor?

Is it ever alright to steal?
That is a magnificent question. In my opinion, it depends on the situation. It does remind me of how back then, the slaves had to steal in order for their families to survive. In a situation like this, I believe it is okay to steal. If someone is less fortunate to buy or grow something to eat for them and their family, then its a life or death situation. These people simply chose to live, and I think it is okay to live.
On the other hand, it is not good to steal. Some people steal for pleasure. They steal just because they like stealing, and it puts a bad influence among the younger ones who look up to them. Another reason why people steal is for drugs. I have seen many people steal and even kill to get this little bag of white powder or a bag of weed. They rather steal to shoot up then get their lives together. I don't like to see people to steal for the wrong reasons. Monday, April 20, 2009
What is your favorite song and why?
I really don't have a favorite song to choose because there so many awesome songs out there. However for this blog, my favorite song will be "Video" by India Arie. India Arie is also a soul singer. I chose this song because she talks about how unique she is to the world. She explicitly explains what she thinks her meaning is on this Earth.
Like her, I do believe that I am more than what I wear and my mind exceeds my appearance. It also explains how materialistic things aren't need to have a jubilant life. I am not a materialistic person. I rather work with what I have, then buy something to work with. Power to India Arie for being her natural self. Because of her and my father up above, I am convinced that I am not the average young woman. If you could do whatever you wanted to right now, what would you do?

If i could be doing anything right now, I would be listening to Jill Scott and writing poetry. One of my favorite poems form her is Honey Molasses. To me, Jill Scott is ineluctable because her rhymes and rhythms are so addicting but at the same time tranquilizing.
"Honey Molasses"
Honey molasses, ebony majesty
Chocolate brown shuga, sweet epiphany
I waited for your call but you choose not to call me
I wonder what happened
Were you inside a safe space and too
I wondered
Were you thinking about me and if you were
Why was I feeling so lonely
By the phone, alone to the bone
Although the night before you were in my home my body my dome
In a circle of passion we Paris Italy Japan Africa Rome
We made music, we trombone
It was magic the way it happened
Pure electricity
I felt so excited and afraid at the same time
I don 't know whether to sing or to rhyme
Call me
Honey molasses, ebony majesty
Chocolate brown shuga, sweet epiphany
If you were the principal of a school, what would you do?

If I were a principal of a school, I would first make sure that every teacher has a learning style that intrigues the student attention, so they can be more alert. I believe if students were more appeased at the teaching style of teachers, then there wouldn't be many students saying how boring their teachers are or how bad they don't want to go to class. I would also make sure the food selection of the cafeteria is favorable. Students should be able to enjoy as well as know what they are feeding their bodies. There will be more nutritious selections other than salad. There would also be more vibrant selections to catch students' attention. The cafeteria will be loved. I will also make sure that the arts is not taken out of the school. The arts are extremely important, in my opinion. The arts help children express theirselves more, and being a music lover, students will be able to have an open mind as well as be open with the others.
I'm glad my parents taught me...

I'm so glad my parents taught me to be respectful and blunt at the same time. Usually I have the tendency to be respectful in every way imaginable. If I am respectful towards you, its because of my kindness and also because I care. Being respectful is so important to me, but speaking your mind is also important to me. In order to get respect, you give it. Most people do not realize that respect can take you a long way. Its their choice to be nasty and to not care about anyone. In my opinion, that is what sets them back in life. As for being blunt, it is always good to speak what is on your mind. There is no ignorant or indispensable question. So being blunt helps you understand more when its time for someone to critique your thoughts. Being blunt also show others how honest and real you can be. Its nothing wrong with being blunt because it helps you take criticism.
What inspires me?
God has given me many gifts. One of them is the love of music and poetry. Music and poetry is actually my second love. I love acoustic soul and r&b. I also look up to artists like Jill Scott, Anthony Hamilton, India Aire, Mos Def, and Floetry. One of my favorite poems is by Jill Scott with Mos Def in which it is also a song called "Love Rain."Love rain down on me,on me,down on me
Love rain down on me,on me,down on me
Love rain down on me,on me,down on me
Love rain down on me,on me,down on me
Met him on a thursday, sunny afternoonCumulus clouds, 84 degrees
He was brown, deep
Said he wanted to talk about my mission
Listen to my past lives (Word?)
Took me on long walks to places where butterflies rest easy
Talked about Moses and Mumia
Reparations, blue colors, memories of shell topped adidas
He was fresh,like summer peaches
Sweet on my mind like block parties and penny candy
Us was nice and warm,no jacket,no umbrella, just warm
At night we would watch the stars
And he would physically give me each and every one
I felt like cayenne pepper,red,hot,spicy
I felt Dizzy, Sonya, heaven, and Miles between my thighs
Better than love,we made delicious
He me had,had me he
He made me tongue tied
I could hear his rhythm in my thoughts
I was his sharp, his horn section
His boom and his bip
And he was my love
Love rain down on me,on me,down on me
The rain was fallin and,and slowly and sweetly and stinging my eyes
And I could not see that he became my voodoo priest
And I was his faithful concubine
Wide open, wide, loose like bowels after collard greens
The mistake was made
Love slipped from my lips
Dripped down my chin and landed in his lap
And us became new
Now me non-clairvoyant and in love
Made the coochie easy and the obvious invisible
The rain was falling
And I couldn't see the season changing
And the vibe slipping off it's axis
Our beautiful melody became wildly staccato
The rain was falling and I could not see
That I was to be plowed and sowed and fertilized
And left to drown in his sunny afternoon
Cumulus clouds,84 degrees,melody
Love rain down on me,on me,down on me
Love rain down on me,on me,down on me

[Mos Def]
In stretched my arms towards the sky like blades of tall grass
The sun beat in between my shoulders like carnival drums
I sat still in hopes that it would help my wings grow
So then I would really be fly
And then she arrived
Like day break inside a railway tunnel
Like the new moon, like a diamond in the mines
Like high noon to a drunkard, sudden
She made my heart beat in a now-now time signature
Her skinny canvas for ultarviolet brushstrokes
She was the sun's painting
She was a deep cognac color
Her eyes sparkled like lights along the new city
She lips pursed as if her breath was too sweet
And full for her mouth to hold I said,
"You are beautiful,distress of mathematics."
I said,"For you, I would peel open the clouds like new fruit."
And give you lightning and thunder as dowry
I would make the sky shed all of its stars like rain
I would clasp the constellations around your waist
And I would make the heavens your cape
And they would be please to cover you
They would be pleased to cover you
May I please.....cover you.......
.......please........
