What is a good neighbor?

A good neighbor is just like a best friend. They help when their best friend is in need. For example, if your best friend is hungry but she is short on money and she couldn't afford to buy the food, it would be nice if you buy their food for them. A good neighbor does not only cling to one person though. A good neighbor does good towards everyone. They help when someone is need and they be there when someone is in trouble. Best friends and good neighbors are very much similar. I know I am a good neighbor as well as a good friend. My weakness is being kind. However, it doesn't feel to ecstatic for someone to take advantage of that. They will call you all type of names like "their little puppet" just to put you below zero. It okay though because the people that do not use people for the wrong reasons will gain so much in life and it doesn't have to be materialistic. Why can't people just be good neighbors? Its sad when people, especially the ones that you care about, think that you are doing nice things for them just because they want something. Why can't us good neighbors, as well as good friends be categorized as kind?

Is it ever alright to steal?

That is a magnificent question. In my opinion, it depends on the situation. It does remind me of how back then, the slaves had to steal in order for their families to survive. In a situation like this, I believe it is okay to steal. If someone is less fortunate to buy or grow something to eat for them and their family, then its a life or death situation. These people simply chose to live, and I think it is okay to live.

On the other hand, it is not good to steal. Some people steal for pleasure. They steal just because they like stealing, and it puts a bad influence among the younger ones who look up to them. Another reason why people steal is for drugs. I have seen many people steal and even kill to get this little bag of white powder or a bag of weed. They rather steal to shoot up then get their lives together. I don't like to see people to steal for the wrong reasons.

What is your favorite song and why?

I really don't have a favorite song to choose because there so many awesome songs out there. However for this blog, my favorite song will be "Video" by India Arie. India Arie is also a soul singer. I chose this song because she talks about how unique she is to the world. She explicitly explains what she thinks her meaning is on this Earth. Like her, I do believe that I am more than what I wear and my mind exceeds my appearance. It also explains how materialistic things aren't need to have a jubilant life. I am not a materialistic person. I rather work with what I have, then buy something to work with. Power to India Arie for being her natural self. Because of her and my father up above, I am convinced that I am not the average young woman.

If you could do whatever you wanted to right now, what would you do?

If i could be doing anything right now, I would be listening to Jill Scott and writing poetry. One of my favorite poems form her is Honey Molasses. To me, Jill Scott is ineluctable because her rhymes and rhythms are so addicting but at the same time tranquilizing.

"Honey Molasses"

Honey molasses, ebony majesty

Chocolate brown shuga, sweet epiphany

I waited for your call but you choose not to call me

I wonder what happened

Were you inside a safe space and too

I wondered

Were you thinking about me and if you were

Why was I feeling so lonely

By the phone, alone to the bone

Although the night before you were in my home my body my dome

In a circle of passion we Paris Italy Japan Africa Rome

We made music, we trombone

It was magic the way it happened

Pure electricity

I felt so excited and afraid at the same time

I don 't know whether to sing or to rhyme

Call me

Honey molasses, ebony majesty

Chocolate brown shuga, sweet epiphany

If you were the principal of a school, what would you do?

If I were a principal of a school, I would first make sure that every teacher has a learning style that intrigues the student attention, so they can be more alert. I believe if students were more appeased at the teaching style of teachers, then there wouldn't be many students saying how boring their teachers are or how bad they don't want to go to class. I would also make sure the food selection of the cafeteria is favorable. Students should be able to enjoy as well as know what they are feeding their bodies. There will be more nutritious selections other than salad. There would also be more vibrant selections to catch students' attention. The cafeteria will be loved. I will also make sure that the arts is not taken out of the school. The arts are extremely important, in my opinion. The arts help children express theirselves more, and being a music lover, students will be able to have an open mind as well as be open with the others.

I'm glad my parents taught me...

I'm so glad my parents taught me to be respectful and blunt at the same time. Usually I have the tendency to be respectful in every way imaginable. If I am respectful towards you, its because of my kindness and also because I care. Being respectful is so important to me, but speaking your mind is also important to me. In order to get respect, you give it. Most people do not realize that respect can take you a long way. Its their choice to be nasty and to not care about anyone. In my opinion, that is what sets them back in life. As for being blunt, it is always good to speak what is on your mind. There is no ignorant or indispensable question. So being blunt helps you understand more when its time for someone to critique your thoughts. Being blunt also show others how honest and real you can be. Its nothing wrong with being blunt because it helps you take criticism.

What inspires me?

God has given me many gifts. One of them is the love of music and poetry. Music and poetry is actually my second love. I love acoustic soul and r&b. I also look up to artists like Jill Scott, Anthony Hamilton, India Aire, Mos Def, and Floetry. One of my favorite poems is by Jill Scott with Mos Def in which it is also a song called "Love Rain."
"Love Rain"

Love rain down on me,on me,down on me

Love rain down on me,on me,down on me

Love rain down on me,on me,down on me

Love rain down on me,on me,down on me

Met him on a thursday, sunny afternoon
Cumulus clouds, 84 degrees
He was brown, deep

Said he wanted to talk about my mission
Listen to my past lives (Word?)
Took me on long walks to places where butterflies rest easy
Talked about Moses and Mumia
Reparations, blue colors, memories of shell topped adidas
He was fresh,like summer peaches
Sweet on my mind like block parties and penny candy
Us was nice and warm,no jacket,no umbrella, just warm
At night we would watch the stars
And he would physically give me each and every one
I felt like cayenne pepper,red,hot,spicy
I felt Dizzy, Sonya, heaven, and Miles between my thighs
Better than love,we made delicious
He me had,had me he
He made me tongue tied
I could hear his rhythm in my thoughts
I was his sharp, his horn section
His boom and his bip
And he was my love

Love rain down on me,on me,down on me

The rain was fallin and,and slowly and sweetly and stinging my eyes
And I could not see that he became my voodoo priest
And I was his faithful concubine
Wide open, wide, loose like bowels after collard greens
The mistake was made
Love slipped from my lips
Dripped down my chin and landed in his lap
And us became new
Now me non-clairvoyant and in love
Made the coochie easy and the obvious invisible
The rain was falling
And I couldn't see the season changing
And the vibe slipping off it's axis
Our beautiful melody became wildly staccato
The rain was falling and I could not see
That I was to be plowed and sowed and fertilized
And left to drown in his sunny afternoon
Cumulus clouds,84 degrees,melody

Love rain down on me,on me,down on me
Love rain down on me,on me,down on me

[Mos Def]

In stretched my arms towards the sky like blades of tall grass
The sun beat in between my shoulders like carnival drums
I sat still in hopes that it would help my wings grow
So then I would really be fly
And then she arrived
Like day break inside a railway tunnel
Like the new moon, like a diamond in the mines
Like high noon to a drunkard, sudden
She made my heart beat in a now-now time signature
Her skinny canvas for ultarviolet brushstrokes
She was the sun's painting
She was a deep cognac color
Her eyes sparkled like lights along the new city
She lips pursed as if her breath was too sweet
And full for her mouth to hold I said,
"You are beautiful,distress of mathematics."
I said,"For you, I would peel open the clouds like new fruit."
And give you lightning and thunder as dowry
I would make the sky shed all of its stars like rain
I would clasp the constellations around your waist
And I would make the heavens your cape
And they would be please to cover you
They would be pleased to cover you
May I please.....cover you.......
.......please........

What if everyone lived under water? Where would people live? What games would children play? What would school be like?

Isn't it fascinating to have such an imagination. Thinking "what if" sometimes can take you a long way. Like what if everyone lived under water? A subject like so, in my opinion, helps expand the mind. If everyone lived under water, i think the image would favor the film, "The Little Mermaid." However, since technology has been increasing in intelligence, we would have waterproof cars, and machinery. I think it would be interesting to have waterproof machinery and technology, especially cell phones and computers. I think people would be the same but just a little wrinkled. Since you basically need gills in order to live under water, people would probably inherit fish-like qualities. I believe the young generations become more intelligent as they come, so play time for children will be more creative. I believe that they would be able to come up with the upmost exciting game as well as jest. However, the most interesting thing will be school. School will be like any other school, but the writing style as in how assignments will be done and how food would be served is inexplicable.

What would you do if someone told you a joke that you don't think was funny?

Jokes are supposed to be hysterically hilarious. To hear a joke that is not funny at all, disgusts me. I'll try to be benevolent, and not tell them how bad their joke is. So I, haplessly, laugh at their joke to feel better. I know it’s not the best thing to do because it seems like I am being a fake. However, I don't like to hurt anyone's feelings. Really I don't care for jokes that cannot be laughed at, but if you enjoyed it, then I guess I can to. I would probably advise him or her to invest in a book of jokes. Maybe it would help them get better at their jokes, so when they approach me with another joke, it would be funny and I can laugh for real. It would be nice for both of us to have the same feelings towards one situation rather than one good and one bad feeling.

What would you do if you found a magic wand?

If I found a magic wand, there are countless things I would do. First, I would make sure every homeless person is in a comfortable home where they could live. I also would create my home into the coolest place anyone could imagine being in. My wand will only intervene with the good; not the bad. I would use my magic wand to prevent pollution and one of my main pet-peeves; littering. To tell you the truth, I will also feel powerful with a wand because I would be able to control everything with magic. Basically I will use my magic wand for change, not pleasure. I would want to appease the world. The world’s environment needs to be protected. I believe it’s important to live in a clean environment. SO GO GREEN!!!

I show my friends and famiy love by...

I show my friends and family love by giving and caring. Giving and caring are my weaknesses. I have a tendency of giving when someone is in need, whether it is a small or large need. I have heard few people tell me that I have a good weakness.Others think that most people don't deserve to receive things and they just have to do it by theirsevlves. Well, I have a different perspective. I believe that no one are able to do it by theirselves. A person will always be inspired or motivated by someone else in order to start on the path of accomplishment. So by that being said, when my family is in trouble or need to converse with someone about their problems, I try to make it my business to be the hero. Most likely I do my best to please everyone because it disgusts me when someone is under the weather.

If you had to describe yourself as a color, which would you choose?

If I had to describe myself as a color, it would be black. Why? Not because that is what I am categorized in this world according to race. I chose black because black is the mixture of all colors. I consider myself as having a mixed personality. I always consider myself as the color black because I think black is such an original and extraordinary color. If I wear black, people don't really know how I feel that day. In my opinion, black is one of the only colors that are indescribable. Black is usually expressed as death, deception, and darkness. But I see it as bold, calm, and inquisitive as well as questionable. Black does not have to always mean "gang banger" or "drug dealer" or "sorrow". Black is strong and independent. It also shows superiority and power. This diverse color happens to be my favorite color. BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL!!!

If it were your job to decide what shows can be on t.v., how would you choose?

If my job was to choose the shows that will be shown on t.v., I would choose based on what America likes. Now I know its messed up basing t.v. on what the US likes, but in the end, the main goal of tv production is to get ratings. If ratings are high, then the numbers on the pay check will fly sky high. If America was super gullible, I wouldn't care what the people think. I would choose shows that will help you learn the positive things of life, as well as the facts. Channels like the History Channel, the Discovery Channel, and Animal Planet would stay. Also networks like Lifetime Movie Network would stay, not because I am a woman and predominantly women watch Lifetime, but because most movies are based on real life situations women go through everyday. I would also keep the news channels as well as the political channels. That way everyone would be aware of whats going on in the world. But since America isn't super gullible and only semi-gullible, I would place shows that sells---basically what is on t.v. now. Modern day soap operas, violence, and sex. That is what sells. If you didn't notice, there are few channels on the television that actually educates the society. Yes, we still have Sesame Street, and some shows on Disney Channel and Nickelodeon; but that's it. Its nothing to really educate the human mind, and citizens complain because the children in China and Japan is more advanced than the children in America.

What would happen if everyone lived in space?

It would be so awesome if everyone lived in space. Being imaginative, everyone would have homes that looked like tall condominiums. Most homes will be outrageously large. It would be like a regular place to stay with garages and parking lots. Indoor swimming pools and virtual sports would also be available. But the only difference, is the cars would look exactly like a typical car, but with the power of a jet. There will be buses, trains, and planes for the extra far traveling. Of course transportation would be very technological as well as with much speed. Everyhting would be computerized. High techonology would be required. As for apparel, people would not just wear material that favors aluminum foil. It would be a variety of different colors, sizes, and styles just how it is today. The only glitch is the material of apparel will be space-proof. Most likely most food will be computerized as well. You would be able to press a button, and in a matter of seconds, maybe minutes depending on the food desired, food will be provided in front of your very own eyes. Basically what is being said is that living in space wouldn't be much different than living on Earth. It seems like it will be more exciting though.

What is something that really makes you angry?

Candidly, I rarely get angry. However, one of the things that makes me angry is when someone litters. Its gathers tention into the atmosphere because garbage cans aren't meaningless. Someone invented the garbage can for a reason: to put trash in. It gets to me because it seems like people are careless about our planet.
The planet already have an atrocious case of pollution. Why make it even more abominable to put trash in places it shouldn't be in. Everytime I see someone litter, especially when it comes to my friends, I start fussing at them because for some odd reason, a garbage can always are nearby. Now, why is it necessary to throw trash on the ground, when it is a grabage can you can place your trash in a few feet away?
I never understood the scenario when its necessary to litter. It would be more appreciated if trash is placed in the trash can, rather than the floor. Lets try to keep our planet clean so it can last longer. It would be more efficient if everyone would put the garbage can to use.

About ME!!!

Creola was painting the living room. Willie was working so she was home alone. She is 8-months pregnant now and is overwroughted about having her fourth child. When she reached down to get more paint, she realized her pants were drenched with water. So she made her way to the bathroom to check things out. "Oh Lord, my water bag is leaking" she thought to herself. So she picks up the phone to call her sister-in-law; whch is Willie's older sister. "Desi my waterbag is leaking..." "Don't panic Candy, stay calm. Just call Willie and tell him what happened. He hurried home and rushed her to the hospital. She was sent straight to the emergency room where the doctor delivered the baby. "Push Creola! Push!" was all you could hear from the room. Around 6:30p.m., the doctor announced a new baby girl born; 5 lbs 4 oz. "Deitra, I like that. Deitra Williams", Willie said. Croela corrected him. "Deitra Danielle Williams, that's right my little Dei".
Deitra Williams was born in the lovely city of Miami, Florida. She was raised in Carol City, Miami, where she went to North County Elementary School, and Lake Stevens Middle School. She was always energetic and full with intelligence. One thing about Deitra, she's..... unique. She has her own style, own language, and she has a wrath, so don't make her mad. She loves sports and played them all, but lost some interest when she moved from Miami at 14. She moved all the way in West Miramar, closer to the Everglades. She went to William H. Turner technical Arts High School her 9th grade year and Everglades High School the rest of her high school years. She played flag football and was apart of many clubs, including the Delta Upsilon Queens of Dynasty Step Team. Oh that girl know she can step. With her aroused attitude in step, she was unstoppable. Now she attends Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida in which she is currently studying Engineering and Mathematics.

What's the worst thing parents to do to their children?

The worst thing parents can do to their children is spoil them. I say this because once your child is spoiled, the worst comes. If you have noticed, the average parent who spoils their child ends up having a child that becomes snobby and malicious. Just expect them to get everything they want. It is proven that spoiling a child is a bad tactic. The child wouldn't want to work for anything and would not appreciate anything that is given to them. The parent should take charge in the relationship with their child. When the child start demanding things and it is given to them, it makes the parent seem inferior compared to the child. This is where discipline comes in. The parent, in the writer's opinion, should discipline their child. Now the writer is not saying to beat them, but to take charge and be the parent again.

What Is Something I Do Well?

I can do many things well. But I'm going to mainly focus on being myself. I love to be myself because at the end, it's only one me, and I like to take advantage of that. I know I have an unique style. I like things that are anomalous, and I can't help it if it attracts me. In my opinion, being stylish is one of the most important traits anyone can have. Style describes who you are. That's why I don't have respect for anyone who does not try to be their own person. Everyone should be theirselves, no matter who's watching.

When I be myself, it's easier for everyone else to get an idea of who I am. for example, I have issues when it comes to my anger. Its hard for me to let go things that aren't right. I don't like it when people hit me or rank (joke) on me for no reason. Also, I love music. So sometimes when I'm walking to someplace, or just thinking about a song, it just comes out. But I don't mind what others think. Some people think I'm crazy anyways, in which I am. Likewise, I like to dance. I'm basically the best dancer in the household back at home. Dancing makes me happy, keeps me entertained, as well as keep my figure the way I like it:-). As I do what I do well, which is be myself, I noticed that I am also very guileless, and I expect for everyone else to be the same with me. Don't "beat around the bush" with me. If you need to confront me with an issue, then be straight foward. Its best to be guileless because if you are, then no one will switch up your words or take it in the wrong way. I like being blunt. It makes me better at what I do.

The last thing I want to cover is something that is important to me. God is the reason I can be myself so well. He is a lifesaver. I don't think I know anyone else that corroborates me more than He does. I thank him for everything that he has done for me. He allowed me to have wonderful parents who also supports me in everyway. I love them so much and they are big inspirations on my life. Thats why I look at myself with pride. I love being an African American woman, baptist, and my size because all of these take part into being myself. And being myself is not only what I do well, its what I do best.

This is my first day in college english II. I like it so far....
