If my job was to choose the shows that will be shown on t.v., I would choose based on what America likes. Now I know its messed up basing t.v. on what the US likes, but in the end, the main goal of tv production is to get ratings. If ratings are high, then the numbers on the pay check will fly sky high. If America was super gullible, I wouldn't care what the people think. I would choose shows that will help you learn the positive things of life, as well as the facts. Channels like the History Channel, the Discovery Channel, and Animal Planet would stay. Also networks like Lifetime Movie Network would stay, not because I am a woman and predominantly women watch Lifetime, but because most movies are based on real life situations women go through everyday. I would also keep the news channels as well as the political channels. That way everyone would be aware of whats going on in the world. But since America isn't super gullible and only semi-gullible, I would place shows that sells---basically what is on t.v. now. Modern day soap operas, violence, and sex. That is what sells. If you didn't notice, there are few channels on the television that actually educates the society. Yes, we still have Sesame Street, and some shows on Disney Channel and Nickelodeon; but that's it. Its nothing to really educate the human mind, and citizens complain because the children in China and Japan is more advanced than the children in America.
